Kadhi Chawal

Prawns, Lobsters and lean steaks in the freezer and my jaded appetite turned them all down. Been ages since I had Kadhi-Chawal. Lets try a hand at it.
Sour curd-check (should be sour, its been lying in the refrigerator for over two weeks).
Gram flour (besan) - check.
Condiments-make do with what is available.

As I whisk the besan with the sour curd with the rain pattering on the window, I try to remember what condiments and spices did Kadhi actually taste of. Bit of ginger, garlic(?), methi seeds..memory fails me in the specifics. However, one cant forget the tang and the surprise with every bite. A special treat for the winters. Fighting with my sister for the last Pakora in the curry and trying to quietly and unobtrusively dispose off the red chilly from the plate.
